Sing (2016 film) poster.jpg

The film includes more than 60 classic songs from famous artists, and also has an original song by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande called “Faith.”[4] It was released by Universal Pictures on December 21, 2016. The film received generally positive reviews from critics and has grossed $590 million worldwide. The film, along with The Secret Life of Pets, marks the first time that Illumination Entertainment has released two feature films in the same year.

Caged Bird was nominated for a National Book Award in 1970 and remained on The New York Times paperback bestseller list for two years. It has been used in educational settings from high schools to universities, and the book has been celebrated for creating new literary avenues for the American memoir. However, the book’s graphic depiction of childhood rape, racism, and sexuality has caused it to be challenged or banned in some schools and libraries.

March 22, 2017.   About Me.  My name is not Dorothy (The Wizard of Oz).  My name is not Alice (In Wonderland). My name is not Julia (One of M15-CIA agent George Orwell’s “how-to” manuals for the powers that now be in power but not for long. [Animal Farm is the other; two more “how-to” manuals: Brave New World by M15-CIA agent Aldous Huxley, and Jennifer Government by CIA agent Max Barry].)  My name is Leitha.  It’s not an assumed name, it’s my birth name.

A false story, fiction, myth, an invention, falsehood; from the Greek myʹthos. Myʹthos is found at 1 Timothy 1:4; 4:7; 2 Timothy 4:4; Titus 1:14; 2 Peter 1:16.

Myʹthos is the opposite of a·leʹthei·a, “truth,” signifying the manifested, veritable essence of a matter. At Galatians 2:5 “the truth of the good news” contrasts the true teaching of the gospel with perversions of it. The apostles warned Christians against the danger of being turned away from the truth to false stories, as these had no basis in fact but were the imaginations of men. Judaism was filled with such false stories, the traditions of the elders making up the so-called oral law that came to be incorporated into the Talmud. Judaism, the leading opponent of Christianity in the first century, had been greatly influenced by pagan philosophies and teachings.

As an example of one of these false stories, consider this from the Palestinian (Jerusalem) Talmud: “R. Samuel b. Nahman in the name of R. Jonathan said: The tables [on which Moses received the Ten Commandments] were six hand-breadths long and three wide: and Moses was holding two hand-breadths, and God two, so that there were two hand-breadths interval between their fingers; and when the Israelites were adoring the calf, God sought to snatch the tables away from Moses’ hands; but Moses’ hands were so powerful that he snatched them from Him.” The story continues that then “the letters flew off” the tablets; as a result, since “the writing was sustaining them,” the tablets “became too heavy for Moses’ hands, and fell, and were broken.”Taʽanit, V, pp. 116, 117, translated by A. W. Greenup.

The Apocryphal writings abound in false, imaginary stories, such as the one about Daniel’s killing a great dragon with a mixture of pitch, fat, and hair (Addition to Daniel 14:22-26, Dy), and another about Tobias’ getting curative and demon-exorcising powers out of the heart, gall, and liver of a monstrous fish.—Tobias 6:2-9, 19, Dy.

Christians to Reject Fables. At 1 Timothy 1:4, Paul instructs Christians not to pay attention to false stories. These can get Christians involved in research of no real benefit and can turn their minds away from the truth. Some of these false stories are the kind told by old women whose lives have been spent in worldly practices. They violate God’s holy, righteous standards. (1Ti 4:6, 7; Tit 1:14) The apostle Peter, at 2 Peter 1:16, makes reference to false stories (which are not only fictitious but also artfully and cunningly devised in order possibly to turn a Christian aside) and contrasts these with the true, factual account of the transfiguration, of which he was an eyewitness. (Mr 9:2) Paul, at 2 Timothy 4:3, 4, foretold that at a future time people would willingly turn aside to false stories in preference to the truth.

About me, continued.  I’ve read a lot of books but I’ve not read any of Maya Angelou’s books or Toni Morrison’s books. It’s not that I have a feeling of self-hatred and don’t want to accept my African American heritage (is childhood rape really the experience of most African American women, or are Maya Angelou and Oprah the exceptions??), it’s just that reading about a caged black woman and a black woman who wanted the bluest eyes, just never appealed to me. I’ve read The Song of Solomon, one of the 66 books in God’s Word the Holy Bible, many many many times. I’ve never had an interest in reading Toni Morrison’s book titled Song of Solomon.  I tried reading Alice Walker’s book and Terry McMillan’s first book but didn’t finish either because neither held my interest.  I read The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, but I did not read I know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.  I know, I’ve made some more African American female enemies.

The following are some pictures I took while in Lord & Taylors two days ago, March 20, 2017, but first, this:

About Me, continued.  Seven of the 11 years I was employed at JPMorgan Bank, I was administrative assistant to Franklin Lorenzo West. Franklin and his family moved to Wisconsin; he taught a financial course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a course at JPMorgan.  While I wish not to cause Franklin any more adversity, I must document this information because much too much is at stake for me not to.  In the mid/late 1960s I was employed at New York Bell Telephone, at 140 West Street, which is now Verizon.

In 2000, Bell Atlantic merged with GTE, which operated telecommunications companies across most of the rest of the country that was not already in Bell Atlantic’s footprint. Bell Atlantic, the surviving company, changed its name to “Verizon”, a portmanteau of veritas (Latin for “truth“) and horizon.[9]
